On Saturday, we were reminded how un-hip the hip-hop industry really is. It is a well known fact that there exists gross objectification of women in music videos with their scantily clad bodies and “booty poppin'”. We can even find cases of lyrics that it pains me to even THINK about. For instance, Odd Future discusses abusing a helpless victim with the line “Once again I gotta punch a b*tch in her sh*t/I’m icy b*tch, don’t look at my wrist/because if you do, I might blind you b*tch”. We find another example of women being thought of as nothing more than a husk of a human being whose only usefulness is for sexual gratification in the popular song by Snoop Dogg where he coldly states, “B*tches ain’t sh*t but hoes and tricks/lick on these nuts and suck the d*ck”. While the culture that surrounds this garbage MEN call art, Xzibit took it one step further by attacking an innocent fan directly on Twitter with woman-hating vitriol:
In my opinion, this has gone too far; It is high time we rose up to overcome these injustices! When Hillary Clinton is president, I KNOW she will put an end to this type of language in our society even if she has to tear up the First Amendment in the process.
